On March 15, the 4th graders participated in the 4th Grade District Music Festival as a part of the NAfME nationwide Music In Our Schools Month celebration. Our students learned several songs prior to the festival and then professional clinician Jordan Langworthy worked with the students to prepare them for performance. The students were also treated to performances from the PHS Jazz Band and the PGSD Combined Academy Choir. Both ensembles gave excellent performances!
Among the songs the students performed, they were able to learn all 50 states, learned and performed some sign language, were accompanied by a bagpipe player, some students were selected to accompany the group on instruments and two students from each school were selected to sing a descent part in one of the songs. The songs ranged from traditional American folk songs to South African folk songs and almost everything in between. The students did an excellent job and enjoyed the day! We hope you will continue to celebrate and promote Music Education in our schools and in your lives by being involved and participating in music no matter where you go or what you do!
